Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shankar is a British-American sitarist as well as a music producer. She is the youngest woman and also the first woman to be awarded a British House of Commons shield. Anoushka is the emerging star of Indian sitar. She is a scholar and daughter of the legendary Ravi Shankar. Born in London and grew up in New Delhi, she spent the early years of her life moving between London as well as New Delhi. At the age of 13 the first time she performed at New Delhi took place. In Encinitas California in 1999, she was awarded an honorary high school degree. Anouskha even though she is just 17 years old, has had a successful performing and recording career. Her father has been with her to numerous performances over some time. She released her first self-titled album Anourag in 1998. A year later, she dropped the Grammy nominated Live in Carnegie Hall. She's performed in all important venues across the world. The career of Anoushka doesn't only involve music. Bapi The love of my life is an illustrated biography she wrote in 2002. It pays special tributes to her late father Ravi Shankar. In addition, she has appeared in a number of films. In 2003, she was in the movie Dance Like a Man where she is the role of a teenage Bharat Natyam performer. Anoushka's career is still developing and she'll continue to accomplish many amazing things in the coming years. Anoushka shankar is an English native who lived her early days split between London, Delhi and California. In Delhi during his birthday celebrations for his 75th birthday she made her debut playing the sitar before the crowd of just four years after her 9-year-old father. The father of Anoushka travelled the world with her and she was able to gain many new experience. When she was still in her teens, Anoushka performed at Carnegie Hall in Peter Gabriel's WOMAD Music Festival. To honor her position as a leading musician of Asian Arts, she was awarded the House of Commons Shield by British Parliament.
